This way there is less waste, and when installing the sections that need to be sewn together, just use wire rope to secure their edges to the support steel cables.

• Eagle aviary in Sweden

In early December 2019, we received a call from a Swedish trading company. They were commissioned by a zoo in Sweden to purchase stainless steel rope mesh for a new large eagle aviary cage. I wouldn’t call it a birdcage because it’s so huge. Eagles can fly in it.

This order was confirmed at a very fast pace. The person in charge of the counterpart on the trading company’s side was a Chinese. And we had a very smooth communication. It took 10 days from sending the sample to finalizing the size and receiving the advance payment.

The time was short, but there were no shortage of details we needed to confirm and problems we needed to solve.

One of the main problems was that the aviary was very tall. 12 meters above ground height of the polygon, the roof and the enclosure needed to be covered with stainless steel mesh. Together with the 1 meter extension below ground, the enclosure wall required a total of 13 meters high of cable mesh.

As we have explained many times before, the height of stainless steel woven rope mesh is usually no more than 8 meters. In the case of larger mesh, sometimes it can be up to 10 meters high.

This is because stainless steel rope mesh is woven, and each knot needs to be threaded back and forth many times, and there will be friction during the weaving process. In order to ensure that each wire rope will not break because of friction, we must limit the height. This is a guarantee of quality.

At a height of 13 meters, the customer asked for a single net to be made. It should not detract from the aesthetics, but also the quality. We came up with a compromise. When making the mesh, divide the height of each wall mesh roll into 2 parts. Once made, the two parts are then joined together using ferrules.
